This song was written at the Battle of Sheriffmuir in 1715. I learnt it from Christine Primrose in the Gaelic Song class at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig on the Isle of Skye in 2008.
Thèid mi dhachaidh hò-rò dhachaidh
Thèid mi dhachaidh chrò Chinn t-Sàile
Thèid mi dhachaidh dìreach dhachaidh
'S gabhaidh mi rathad mòr Chinn t-Sàile
Thèid mi fhin leam fhin leam fhin ann
Thèid mi fhin leam fhin gun dàil ann
Thèid mi fhin leam fhin leam fhin ann
'S gabhaidh mi rathad mòr Chinn t-Sàile
Thèid mi dhachaidh hò-rò dhachaidh
Thèid mi dhachaidh chrò Chinn t-Sàile
Thèid mi dhachaidh dìreach dhachaidh
'S gabhaidh mi rathad mòr Chinn t-Sàile
Hear a recording of this song made at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig in 2008
I shall go home ho-ro home
I shall go home to the cattle fold at Kintail
I shall go home directly home
And I'll take the Kintail main road
I shall go by myself
I shall go by myself without delay
I shall go by myself
And I'll take the Kintail main road
