  1. Byla že jest zemlja jazyku jedinaho i reči jednostajnoje.
  2. I jehda idoša ko-vostoku solnca, znašli sut' polě v-zemli Sennar i prebyša nanem.
  3. I reče jedin každyj ko-druhu svojemu, "Pojdemo, i nadelajmo plit i spalimo je ohnem." I byša im plity v-kamenja mesto i klej v-melu mesto.
  4. I rekoša, "Podte, i včinimo sobě hrad i stolp jeho že verx dadosjahajet' doněbesi: i včinim slavno imja naše, pervej neželi rozyjdem sja po-vsex zemljax."
  5. I stupil jest Hospod' videti hrad i stolp je že činiša synově Adamovy.
  6. I reče, "Sě, jediny sut' ljudije, i jedinostajnyj jest jazyk vsem. I počali sut' seje delati i ne prestanut' ôt myšlenej sbojx, dondeže i delom ne napolnjat'.
  7. Sehodlja, pojdite stupmo i smesim tam jazyk ix, da ne porazumejet' každyj hlasu bližne ho svojeho.
  8. I tako rozdelil jest ix Hospod' stoho mesta po-vsex zemljax, i prestaša staviti hrad.
  9. I sehoradi nazbano jest imja hradu tomu Smešenije, poněže tu smesilsja jest jazyk vseja zemli, i ôt tole rozsejal je Hospod' po-vsex stranax.

Ruthenian, or Old Ruthenian was an East Slavic language spoken in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, and later in the East Slavic territories of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth. It is also known as Chancery Slavonic or Old Belarusian.
