Colloquial Welsh

Colloquial Welsh - A Complete Language Course

Gareth King

- the best introduction to spoken Welsh currently available. Includes a course book containing dialogues, grammatical notes, exercises and cultural information, together with two cassettes with recordings of some of the dialogues and exercises.

The book is divided into sixteen lessons, each of which covers quite a lot of material - too much to take in one session. There are English translations for all dialogues up to lesson four. After that only the new words and expressions are translated.

One slight problem is that the dialogues in the book are not always the same as the ones on the tapes. For example, sometimes the speakers on the tapes use Northern Welsh constructions while there are Southern Welsh constructions in the book, or vice versa.
