Chewirin

Chewirin

The Chewirin script was invented by Demian Araya in 2020 as an alternative way to write Mapuche, which is spoken in Chile and Argentina. The initial idea was to construct an easily memorable and aesthetical focused alternative way to write Mapuche. The shapes of the letters were influenced by traditional designs used by the Mapuche people. The name Chewirin means "the human writing". It can also be used to write Huilliche, a language spoken in Chile that is related to Mapuche.
