Chiri was invented by Jay Tamar for the webcomic Passing Human. It has two forms; one form is used to write the Chiri language used by the aliens (CfC), also called the Chiri, featured in the webcomic. The second form is an adaptation for English (CfE). The language itself consists of 1 vowel [i], 20 fricatives, and 14 pharyngeals. These pharyngeals cannot be pronounced by humans. The language juxtaposes a flowing script with a harsh sound to represent the beautiful surface but deadly interior of the Chiri society.
The part of speech in Chiri can be determined by the configuration of consonants. For example, any word with the form CCVCVC will be a masculine singular adjective.
