Lanquanese (Lanquaneze/Ланќанезе)

Lanquanese [IPA: læŋkwә'niz] is a Romance language. It is a constructed language devised by conlanger Xquozojak. The structure of Lanquanese is similar to that of many other Latin-based languages, with the construction of words mostly resembling French and the sound of the language having a flow near to that of Italian. Other works created by Xquozojak include Lanquanese-English and English-Lanquanese dictionaries, vocabulary and grammar handbooks, a verb conjugation manual, and excepts from the Bible. Accompanying the language, a constructed country named Lanquania has been created to add a layer of depth to the language. Lanquania has a map written as well as a national anthem.

Lanquanese can be written using either of three alphabets: the Latin alphabet, Cyrillic alphabet, or Lamezzian, an alphabet created by Xquozojak to complement the language. Lamezzian can also be used to write English, if desired. In everyday writing and literature, the Latin alphabet is the standard, however the Cyrillic and Lamezzian alphabets are used in numerous regions around Lanquania.

Notes

c = before hard vowels (a, o, u) and ch = before soft vowels (e, i, y)
g and x act in the same manner as c
the ‘i’ in ci is used to keep the ‘c’ soft, it is not pronounced as the vowel i
ci + i/e/y do not exist, use instead cî, ce, or cŷ, respectively; ci = before vowels, cy = before consonants
gi, sgi, and xi act in the same manner as ci
r = [r] at the beginning of a word or when paired with a consonant; r = [ɾ] between vowels; r = [r̥] at the end of a word
y is pronounced [ɪ] when it carries emphasis and [ә] elsewhere
ç and ħ are extra letters not considered part of the alphabet nor letters with diacritics

vowels with acute accents (á, é, etc.) carry a word’s emphasis
vowels with circumflexes (â, ê, etc.) and grave accents (à, è, etc.) have the same pronunciation, the former are used in first and medial positions, and the latter in final position; when their roles are reversed, emphasis is denoted
vowels with a dieresis (ä, ë, etc.) are both phonological and grammatical equivalents to aa, ee, etc., thus their sound is elongated

Cyrillic ë = Latin ê/è; similarly, ö = ô/ò and ÿ = û/ù no accent marks are used in the Cyrillic Lanquanese alphabet, rather letter markers are used
ъ is placed after a vowel to mark elongation (ä, ë, etc.) and after a consonant to mark gemination (ll, tt, etc.); it is also used to represent an apostrophe
ь is placed after a vowel to mark emphasis instead of using diacritics (â, é, ù, etc.); it is also used in the pair pь at the end of a word to represent the sound [r̥]
h is placed after a vowel to mark nasalization (ã, õ)
