The Lierean Script was invented by Adriaan van Liere and can be used to transcribe the sounds of any language, similar to the International Phonetic Alphabet. The advantage it has over IPA is that it visually represents the relationships between similar phonemes. Adriaan also aimed to make it as beautiful as possible: a script that lends itself to calligraphy but that is also easy to read, and combines the aesthetics of both East and West.
This chart shows the symbols for vowels with their IPA equivalents.
