The Lirean alphabet was invented in its current form in April 2008 by Edward dela Peña for his eponymous constructed language, named after Lireo, one of the kingdoms in the Filipino fantasy series Encantadia. (The etymology was subsequently revised such that it comes from the Lirean word for tree, lir.) It was influenced by Hangeul and Indian abugidas.
In this chart, IPA is used to transliterate the letters. The semivowel "hooks" joining the vowel "a" are in red.
This Tagalog translation of Article 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is written in a box-style font made in October 2012.
Ang lahat ng tao'y isinilang na malaya at pantay-pantay sa karangalan at mga karapatan. Sila'y pinagkalooban ng katwiran at budhi at dapat magpalagayan ang isa't isa sa diwa ng pagkakapatiran.
All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.
They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards
one another in a spirit of brotherhood.
