Information about counting in Baniwa (Tapuya), an Arawakan language spoken in Brazil and Venezuela.
Notes: some numbers take different endings (classifiers) depending on what is being counted. The numbers below are shown with the generic classifier -da. Many Baniwa speakers use Baniwa numbers up to 5, and Portuguese or Spanish numbers from 6 onwards.
