How to count in Wiyot (Soulatluk), an Algic language that was spoken in Humboldt Bay in northwestern California, which is being revived.
Wiyot numbers change depending on what you are counting. The forms shown below are used for counting people, many animals, and for abstract counting. When counting long objects, such as arrows, trees, fingers, snakes, etc, 1-4 would be goutsak, rridak, rrikak, rrawak. For roundish things, such as rocks, baskets, etc., they would be em>goutsutk, rri'dutk, rrikutk, rrawutk
