Kiliwa (Koléew Ñaja’)

Kiliwa is a Yuman-Cochimí language spoken in the state of Baja California in northern Mexico. In 2018 there were just four speakers of Kiliwa, which is also known as Kiliwi, Ko’lew or Quiligua. Most Kiliwa people speak Paipai, a related language.

Kiliwa is recognized as a national language in Mexico. No efforts are currently being made to revitalize Kiliwa. Kiliwa is rarely written, although a dictionary and grammar have been produced.
