Western Pwo is a member of the Pwo group of Karen languages. It is spoken by about 210,000 people in southern Myanmar, particularly in the Ayeyarwady, Bago and Yangon regions.
Western Pwo is also known as Western Pwo Karen, Delta Pwo, Bassein Pwo Karen, Delta Pwo Karen, Mon Karen, Mon Kayin, Mutheit, Pathein Pwo Karen, Phlong, Phlong Sho, Pho, Shu or Talaing Karen.
Western Pwo is written with the Myanmar / Burmese script. There is some literature in the language, including a translation of the Bible and a dictionary, and literacy is taught in churches and summer classes.

A long time ago, a woman had a son. Her husband died, leaving her behind, and she was living as a widow in a difficult situation. However, this woman did her best to do what her son wanted and always indulged him.
