Tai Laing (တႆးလꧥင်ꩽ)

Tai Laing is a Southwestern Tai language spoken in northern Myanmar by about 100,000 people, in particular in the township of Homalin in the Hkamti District of the Sagaing Region along the along Chindwin, Irrawaddy and Uru rivers, and in and between the townships of Bhamo and Myitkyina in Kachin State.

Tai Laing is also known as Red Tai, Shan Bamar, Shan Kalee, Shan Ni, Shan-ni, Tai Laeng, Tai Lai, Tai Lang, Tai Nai or Tai Naing. There are two dialects: Tai Lai and Tai Nai. The former is spoken south of Myitkyina, while the latter is spoken to the north of Myitkyina.

Tai Laing is written with a version of the Myanmar / Burmese script with some extra letters.
