Ambala is a member of the Central Luzon branch of the Malayo-Polynesian language family. It is spoken by about 1,660 people in the Central Luzon region of the Philippines, in particular in Dinalupinan municipality and Olongapo City in Bataan province, and in Castillejos, San Marcelino and Subic municipalities in Zambales province.
Ambala is also known as Ambala Ayta, Ambala Agta, Ambala Sambal or Ayta Ambala. It is closely related to Botolan Sambal, which is spoken in Zambales province.
Ambala is written with a version of the Latin alphabet developed by the Philippine Department of Education, members of the Ayta Ambala community and SIL Philippines.
