Sambal (Sambali)

Sambal is a member of the Central Luzon branch of the Malayo-Polynesian language family. It is spoken in mainly in the Province of Zambales in Central Luzon in the Philippines. Sambal speakers are found in Santa Cruz, Candelaria, Masinloc, Palauig and Iba in Zambales, and also in Infanta in the Province of Pangasinan, and in Puerto Princesa on Palawan. In the year 2000 there were about 70,000 speakers of Sambal.

Sambal is taught in primary schools in Zambales. It is also used in newspapers and on the radio.
