Ghadamès is an Eastern Berber language spoken in the town of Ghadames (ʕademis) in the Nalut District (Lalūt) in the northwest of Libya. In 2016 there were about 12,400 speakers of Ghadamès in Libya, and maybe another 2,000 in other countries.
Ghadamès was first documented by Adolphe de Calassanti Motylinski in the early 20th century. Further studies of the language were undertaken by Father Jacques Lanfry in the 1940s. A grammar of Ghadamès, based on Lanfry's work, was published in 2013 by Maarten Kossmann.
