Swampy Cree (ᓀᐦᐃᓇᐍᐏᐣ / nêhinawêwin)

Swampy Cree is a Central Algonquian language spoken by about 2,500 in Canada, particulary in northern Manitoba, along the Saskatchewan River and the Hudson Bay coast in Saskatchewan, and on the coasts of Hudson Bay and James Bay in Ontario.

Swampy Cree is also known as Inilîmowin, Maskekon, Moskégon, Omaškêkowak, Omushkego or Cri des marais. There are two main dialects: Western Swampy Cree, which is spoken mainly in Manitoba, and Eastern Swampy Cree, which is spoken in Ontario.
