Ethiofarsi (ኢትዮፋርሲ)

Ethiofarsi is an adaptation of the Amharic abugida for Persian (Farsi). Ethiofarsi is intended to be more faithful to Farsi phonetics, and to have more phonetically consistent letters than the current Perso-Arabic alphabet for Farsi. Also, any Amharic letters that aren't required for Farsi aren't used, so as to keep things simple.

The 7 basic Amharic/Ge'ez vowel forms are retained in Ethiofarsi since they are almost identical to Farsi vowels. Other compound vowel forms in Amharic aren't used. Of the 34 Amharic consonant letters, only 23 are used here so as to maintain one-to-one correspondence between the Ethiopic letters and Farsi consonants. The following is a comprehensive table of all the Ethiofarsi syllables.

Thus, every consonant letter has 7 forms, 6 to represent the basic Farsi vowels and 1 to represent lack of a vowel, shown here as 'N/A'. In addition, there are 2 compound vowels in Farsi, /ej/ and /ow/. The former can be represented by following the 'e' form of a letter with 'ይ' and the latter, by following the 'o' form of a letter with 'ኡ'.

In Ethiofarsi, Ethiopic punctuation marks are used since they go well with the abugida. However, as opposed to Ethiopic numerals, the use of Farsi numerals (based on Arabic-Indic numerals) is preferred because they are simpler to write and are capable of representing indefinitely high powers of ten and zero. The following are the Farsi numerals used in Ethiofarsi: ۰ ۱ ۲ ۳ ۴ ۵ ۶ ۷ ۸ ۹.
