Bugkalot (Bogkalot)

Bugkalot is a member of the Northern Luzon branch of the Malayo-Philippine language family. It is spoken by about 5,710 people in the provinces of Nueva Vizcaya and Quirion in the north of Luzon in the Philippines. In particular it is spoken in the Cagayan Valley region in the south of Nueva Vizcaya, and in the Nagtipunan area in the west of Quirino.

Bugkalot is also known as Bogkalot, Bugkalut, Bukalot, Ilongot or Lingotes. Dialects include Abaka, Egongot, Ibalao, Italon and Iyongut. Bugkalot is spoken by adults and some young people, and there is a shift to Ilocano and Tagalog among increasing numbers of Bugkalot people.

Bugkalot can be written with the Latin alphabet.
