Kahua is a member of the Southeast Solomonic branch of the Oceanic group of Malayo-Polynesian languages. It is spoken by about 5,200 people in the south of Makira island in Makira-Ulawa Province in the east of the Solomon Islands.
The Kahua language is also known as Anganiwai, Narihua, Wanoni, and Makira island is also known as San Cristobal island or San Cristóbal island.
D, J and L are only used in loanwords.
