Longgu is a member of the Southeast Solomonic group of Oceanic Malayo-Polynesian languages. It is spoken by about 1,500 people on the northeast coast of Guadalcanal Island in Guadalcanal Province in the Solomon Islands. It was originally spoken on the nearby Malaita Island in Malaita Province of the Solomon Islands.
Longgu is also known as Logu. It was first written by missionaries in the early 20th century using the Latin alphabet. They translated parts of the Bible and other religious texts into the language.
