Pinyin (Àshwəŋnə̀ Pìnyinə)

Pinyin is a member of the Southern Bantoid branch of the Niger-Congo language family. It is spoken by about 24,600 people in the Mezam Division of the Northwest Province of Cameroon.

Pinyin is also known as Bapinyi, Menka or Pelimpo. It is related to Awing, Ngemba, Bafut and Mendankwe-Nkwen.

Pinyin is written with the Latin alphabet, and is used in schools, literature and the media.
