Vamale is a member of the New Caledonian branch of the Malayo-Polynesian language family. It is spoken by about 180 people in the north of Grande Terre Island in New Caledonia, particularly between Tiendanite, We Hava, Téganpaïk and Tiouandé.
Vamale is also known as Moaeke, Hmwaeke, Pamale or Neukaledonien. It can be written with the Latin alphabet.
