Cora (naáyarite)

Cora is an Uto-Aztecan language spoken in the states of Nayarit, Jalisco and Durango in central Mexico. In 2010 there were 20,000 Cora speakers. There are also some Cora speakers in Colorado in the USA.

There are two main varieties of Cora: Cora del Nayar or Cora Meseño, and Cora de Santa Teresa or Cora Tereseño. The former is spoken mainly in the south of el Nayar municipality in Nayarit, and has a number of varieties, which are more or less mutually intelligible. The latter is spoken mainly in north of el Nayar, and differs significantly from other varieties of Cora.
