Hmu (hveb Hmub)

Hmu is a Hmong-Mien language spoken in mainly in Guizhou in southern China, and also in Hunan, and in parts of northern Vietnam. In 1995 there were about 2.1 million speakers of Hmu, which is also known as Qiandong Miao, Eastern Guizhou Miao, Central Miao, East Hmongic or Black Miao.

The standard version of Hmu used in textbooks in China is Northern Qiandong Miao, which is also known as Central Miao, Eastern Guizhou Hmu, or 黔东方言 (Qiándōng fāngyán) in Chinese.
