Mashan Miao is a Hmong-Mien language spoken in Guizhou in the south of China. In 1995 there were 140,000 speakers of Mashan Miao. It is also known as Mang or Mashan Hmong, and the name Mashan comes from the Chinese 麻山 (máshān), a town in Meitan County (湄潭县).
There are several varieties of Mashan Miao. The most spoken of these are Central Mang and Northern Mang.
An orthography for Mashan Miao based on pinyin was created in 1985. A new alphabet was created in 2010, as the first one had deficiencies.
