Sedang is a member of the North Bahnaric branch of the Austroasiatic language family. It is spoken mainly in Kon Tum, Quang Nam, and Quang Ngai provinces in south central Vietnam. There are also speakers of Sedang in eastern Laos. In 2007 there were about 97,500 speakers of Sedang. The language is also known as Cadong, Dang, Hadang, Hdang, Hotea, Hoteang, Kmrang, Rotea, Roteang, Tang, Xa or Xodang.
Sedang is used in radio programs, and there is a Sedang dictionary. Few people are able to read and write the language.
