Kalkatungu

Kalkatungu is a member of the Pama-Nyungan language family that was spoken until the 1970s in the area around towns of Mt. Isa and Cloncurry in western Queensland in the northeast of Australia. Kalkatungu was first documented in the late 19th century. In the 1960s Barry J. Blake, a linguist at the Monash University, made recordings and notes on the language. He published a grammar of Kaltungu in 1979, and a dictionary in 1990.

Kalkatungu is also known as Kalkutung, Galgadungu, Galgaduun, Kalkadoon or Kalkutungu.
