Masbateño is a member of the Bicol-Bisayan branch of the Malayo-Polynesian language family. It is spoken mainly in the province of Masbate in the Philippines by more than 600,000 people. It is closely related to Hiligaynon (Ilonggo) and Waray-Waray.
Masbateño is taught in some schools, and is used in newspapers and on the radio. There is a Masbateño dictionary and grammar, and a translation of part of the Bible.
