Bantoanon (Binisaya / Bisaya)

Bantoanon is a Philippine language spoken in Romblon province in the centre of the Philippines. It is named after Banton Island, and is also spoken on the neighbouring islands of Sibale, Tablas, Simara and Maestre de Campo. In 2011 there were about 75,000 speakers of Bantoanon, which is also known as Asi. It is quite closely related to Hiligaynon and Inonhan.

Bantoanon is taught in primary and secondary schools, and is used in politics, churches and literature.
