Ngangam (miganganm)

Ngangam is a member of the Northern Gur branch of the Niger-Congo language family. It is spoken by about 77,000 Gangam people in Togo and Benin. In particular, it is spoken in and around the towns of Gando and Mogou in the Oti Prefecture in the Savanes Region of northeastern Togo, and in Kountouri in the Atakora Department in northwestern Benin.

Ngangam is also known as Dye, Gangam, Gangum, Ngangan, Nbangam, Migangam or Mijiem. Dialects include Motiem and Koumongou, which are spoken in Togo, and Dye and Gamgan, which are spoken in Benin. It is related to Gurma, Anufo, Konkomba and Moba. Many Gangam people also speak Anufo.

Ngangam was first documented in the 1960s, and is written with the Latin script. There is a translation of the Bible and a number of other works in the language.
