Tammari (Ditammari)

Tammari is member of the Gur branch of Niger-Congo language family spoken mainly in central Benin, and also in northern and central Togo. In Benin it is spoken in Atakora, Donga and Borgou departements, and in Togo it is spoken in the Kara and Savanes regions. In 2012 there were about 150,000 speakers of Tammari.

There are two dialects of Tammari: Eastern Ditammari and Western Ditammari, which is also known as Tamberma.

Tammari is taught in some primary schools, and is also used in some radio programs.
