Beami is a member of the Beami group of Trans-New-Guinea languages. It is spoken by about 5,000 people in the Western Province in the southwest of Papua New Guinea, particularly to the east of Nomad, and also in the Southern Highlands Province.
Beami is also known as Bedamini, Bedamuni or Mougulu. One dialect is called Komofio.
Beami is written with the Latin script, and there is a Beami translation of The Bible. However, only about 15-25% of Beami speakers are literate in their language.
