Lamaholot

Lamaholot is a member of the Central-Eastern branch of Malayo-Polynesian language family. It is spoken by about 180,000 people in the province of East Nusa Tengara in eastern Indonesia, mainly in the east of Flores Island, and on the nearby islands of Solor, Adonara and Lembata. Lamaholot is spoken mainly by adults and is not being passed on to children

Lamaholot is also known as Solor or Solorese. It is written with the Latin alphabet.

Sample text (Kolõpohũ ta'o witu)

Kolõpohũ no'õ Lakolete ru'aka kəmamũ nə̃ teika ia ləwo to'u. Ru'aka breũ. Nuluwalé ra'é wahã-wahã. Kolõpohũ suka opəaka ata, na'e pe pə'akala waũ, nə̃ Lakolete pe nuluwalenə̃ wahã. Na'e tutu ã mopa-mopa, na'e pə'akala la.

Translation (Kolõpohũ sets a trap)

Kolõpohũ and Lakolete were young men, they stayed in a village. Both them were friends. They had different personalities. Kolõpohũ usually lied to people, he was a big liar, but Lakolete had a different personality. He always told everything honestly, he did not lie to people.
