Dust Witch Runes were invented by Kitsune Sobo as the native script of the Dust Witches (Rasenna) in the Rhodinoverse. The Rhodinoverse is a fictional multiverse created and illustrated by Kit, and features various species with their own distinct languages and cultures.
The Dust Witches, living on the harsh borders of Wonderland's deserts, have long had a reputation of being brutish and incapable of art or culture. In response to this stereotyping the Dust Witch priest Vaikunta devised a syllabic script based on human writings like the Hotsuma Tsutae.
Designed to be featural and easy to learn, the Dust Witch Runes adapt Japanese writing techniques to reflect the phonology of the Dust Witch language, and have gained widespread use by Dust Witches across tribes.
