Skálmvargic was invented by Kitsune Sobo as the native script of the Skálmvargar (Bladewolves) in the fictional Rhodinoverse. The Rhodinoverse is a fictional multiverse created and illustrated by Kit, and features various species with their own distinct languages and cultures.
The lycanthropic Skálmvargar valued two things above all: their giant swords, heaps of raw iron which they were trained on from birth, and their unbroken oral tradition, which often took the form of throat-singing and epic poetry. Due to contact with the human world through the Biverest bridge the original language of the Bladewolves, including its prose and music, was gradually being replaced with a form of Old Norse.
To avoid the complete extinction of their native speech, a Skálmvargr named Andskoti devised a script based on the lupine tracks his kind would leave in the soil of their homeworld during their hunts, a compact alphabet that reflected its systematic maker. He also gave the script its lengthy name, wrlcasdjadjasanajnucahrlir, which roughly translates to "Words Tried in Unwearying Flame."
