Assorted 'useful' foreign phrases

These phrases come mainly from phrasebooks and language courses. Some of them are intended to illustrate particular grammatical points, others I just found amusing. Finding occasions to use them might be quite challenging, but you'll probably have fun trying. Maybe you could use them as ice breakers, chat-up lines, as part of a comedy routine, or for some surreal conversations.

I don't mind watching, but I'd rather not join in

Tu ego está fuera de control
Your ego is out of control

El burro sabe mas que tú
The donkey knows more than you

Discúlpame ¿te importa si te miro un rato? Quiero recordar tu cara en mis sueños.
Excuse me, do you mind if I stare at you for a minute? I want to remember your face for my dreams.

Dame los cables de arranque (de batería), los pollos se han escapado.
Hand me the jump leads, the chickens have escaped.

¡El gato está en la nevera!
The cat is in the fridge!

Mis gatos fueron a un baile el viernes pasado.
My cats went to a dance last Friday.

El búho sabe muchos idiomas.
The owl knows a lot of languages.

¿Tú eres una araña?
Are you a spider?

Mi caballo aprendió francés hace un año.
My horse learnt French a year ago.

Los leones prepararon una cena deliciosa
The lions prepared a delicious dinner

El oso quiere una habitación individual
The bear wants a single room

El ratón encendía la radio para escuchar música rap
The mouse uesd to turn on the radio to listen to rap music

Los ratones escribirán un poema sobra el queso
The mice will write a poem about cheese

La vaca no podrá escribir este texto en francés
The cow won't be able to write this text in French

Los búhos nunca pondrían azúcar en su café
The owls would never put sugar in their coffee

Los tigres se pondrían cómodos en el sofá del rey
The tigers would get comfortable on the king's sofa

Mi gatito gastó dinero en el bar
My little cat spent money at the bar

Ella nadaba cuando un pez le habló en español
She was swimming when a fish spoke to her in Spanish

Mi gato se volverá fuerte porque va al gimnasio
My cat will become strong because it goes to the gym

En nuestra cueva no habria ni monos ni payasos
In our cave there would be neither monkeys nor clowns

¡Ojo te vas a sentar en la mostaza otra vez!
Look out, you're going to sit on the mustard again!

El pez salió a desayunar
The fish went out for breakfast

Los búhos lavaron el piso de la cocina
The owls washed the kitchen floor

Iba para la cafetería cuando vi una vaca en bicicleta
I was going to the cafeteria when I saw a cow on a bicycle

¡Cuando entré en la cocina, mi perro cocinaba!
When I went into the kitchen, my dog was cooking!

Los búhos nunca pondrían azúcaren su café
The owls would never put sugar in their coffee

El rey querría pensar que las arañas no lo odian
The king would want to think that the spiders don't hate him

Mis caballos coleccionan dientes.
My horses collect teeth.

Las ovejas intentaban cantar en francés
The sheep were trying to sing in French

¿Por qué ese pato estaba usando la impresora?
Why is that duck using the printer?
