Baoulé

Baoulé is a member of the Kwa branch of the Niger-Congo language family. It is spoken in central and southern Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) by about 2.1 million people (in 1993). It is also known as Baule, Baule-Ando or Bawule.

The Bible was translated into Baoulé between 1953 and 1998.

Baoulé is written with a version of the Latin alphabet devised by l'Institut de linguistique appliqué ivoirien (The Ivorian Applied Linguistic Institute) in 1979.
