Chakosi (Anufo)

Chakosi is a member of the Kwa branch of the Niger-Congo language family. It is spoken by about 177,200 people in northeast Ghana, northern Togo and northwest Benin. In 2013 there were about 91,300 speakers in the Northern Region of Ghana. There are also about 72,100 Chakosi speakers in the Oti Prefecture of the Savanes Region of Togo, and about 13,800 speakers in the Atakora Department of Benin.

Chakosi is also known as Chakosi, Chokosi, Kyokosi, Tchokossi or Tiokossi. The native name for the language is Anufo.
