Ogba is a member of the Igboid branch of the Volta-Niger language family. It is spoken by about 334,000 people in southern Nigeria, particularly in the Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni LGA of Rivers State, and also in Delta, Imo and Bayelsa states.
This language is also known Olu Ogba, Olu Ọgba or Ogbah. Dialects include East Ogbah, Igburu-Usomini, South Ogbah and West Ogbah.
Ogba was first written in the early 20th century. Since then various spelling systems using the Latin script have been devised for it. The current one is based on the Igbo orthography.
