The Hanifi Rohingya script was created in the 1980s by Mohammad Hanif, a teacher and scholar from Bangladesh, and his colleagues. It is an alternative way to write Rohingya, an eastern Indo-Aryan language spoken in northern Rakhine State in Myanmar and in the Chiittagong Division of Bangladesh. There are also ways to write Rohingya with the Arabic and Latin alphabets.
