Aloápam Zapotec is a member of the Zapotecan branch of the Oto-Manguean language family. It is spoken by about 3,400 people in southern Mexico, particularly in San Miguel Aloápam and San Isidro Aloápam in the Ixtlán District of the Sierra Norte region of the state of Oaxaca.
Aloápam Zapotec is also known as Zapoteco de Aloápam or Zapoteco de la Sierra Norte de Oaxaca. It is written with the Latin alphabet, and parts of the Bible have been translated into it.
