Rincón Zapotec is a member of the Zapotecan branch of the Oto-Manguean language family. It is spoken by about 29,200 people in Oaxaca state in the south of Mexico, particularly in the Villa Alta District of the Sierra Norte Region of Oaxaca.
Rincón Zapotec is also known as Northern Villa Alta Zapotec, Nexitzo, Didsaˀ Shidsaˀ, Northern Villa Alta Zapotec, San Juan Yaeé Zapotec, Tidza’, Zapoteco Serrano del Noroeste Bajo, Zapoteco de Yagallo or Zapoteco del Rincón.
Rincón Zapotec is written with a version of the Latin alphabet.
