Zoogocho Zapotec is a member of the Zapotecan branch of the Oto-Manguean language family. It is spoken by about 1,000 people in the state of Oaxaca in southern Mexico, in particular in the towns of San Bartolomé Zoogocho, Santa María Yalina and Tabehua in the Villa Alta District of the Sierra Norte Region of Oaxaca, and also in Oaxaca City.
Zoogocho Zapotec is also known as Tabehua, Yalina, San Bartolomé Zoogocho, Zapoteco Serrano del Sureste Medio, Zapoteco de San Bartolomé Zoogocho, Didza shon or Dizha’ Xhon.
Zoogocho Zapotec is written with a version of the Latin alphabet.
