Miahuatlán Zapotec is a member of the Zapotecan branch of the Oto-Manguean language family. It is spoken by about 1,000 people in the state of Oaxaca in southern Mexico, particularly in the town of Santa Catarina Cuixtla in the Miahuatlán District in the south of the Sierra Sur Region of Oaxaca.
Miahuatlán Zapotec is also known as Cuixtla Zapotec, Zapoteco de Miahuatlán or Zapoteco de la Sierra Sur Central.
Miahuatlán Zapotec is written with the Latin alphabet. Parts of the Bible have been translated into the language, and there is a dictionary.
