Apurinã is a Southern Arawakan or Maipurean language spoken in Amazonas and Mato Grosso States in the northwestern Amazon region of Brazil, mainly along Pures River. In 2006 there were about 2,800 speakers of Apurinã, which is also known as Ipurinã, Ipurinãn or Kangite. The language is known as Pupikariwakuri or Popikariwakori by the people who speak, who call themselves popũkare.
