Sangirese is member of the Philippine branch of the Malayo-Polynesian language family. It is spoken by about 255,00 people in North Sulawesi province in Indonesia, and in Davao del Sur province in the Philippines. In Indonesia it is spoken particularly in the Sangihe Islands Regency, and also in the Siau Tagulandang Biaro Islands Regency, and the Talaud Islands Regency.
Sangirese is also knowan and Sangihé, Sangi, Sangir or Sangih. There is a way to write it with the Latin alphabet and there is a translation of the Bible in Sangirese.
