Sarnámi Hindustani is variant of Caribbean Hindustani spoken by about 250,000 people in Suriname and the Netherlands. It is one of the most widely-spoken languages Suriname, along with Sranan Tongo and Dutch.
Caribbean Hindustani is a language that developed among people from India who migrated as indentured labourers to Surinam and parts of the Caribbean from 1870. It combines dialects from Northern India and Nepal.
C, q, v, x, y and z are only used in loanwords and foreign names. Dutch words and names are pronounced according to Dutch pronunciation.
