Lambadi (बंजारा / లంబాడి / ಲಂಬಾಣಿ)

Lambadi is a Western Rajasthani language spoken by the nomadic Banjara people originally in Rajasthan, and now mainly in the India states of Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, and also in Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and West Bengal. According to the 2011 census, there are about 5 million speakers of Lambadi.

Lambadi is also known as Banjari, Lamani, Lambani, Sugali, Gormati, Goarboali. Dialects include Maharashtra Lamani, Karnataka Lamani, Andhra Pradesh Lamani.

Lambadi is written with the Devanagari alphabet in Maharashtra, with the Kannada script in Karnataka, and with the Telugu script in Andhra Pradesh.

Kannada

ಓರ್ ಪಕಬ್ ಬೇಞಾಪರ್ ಲಿಶ್ಯಾಣ್ ರಕಾಡೇಜಕೋ ಹರ್ಯೋಕ್ ಆದ್ತೀ ಲಾಸ್ ನಲೋಜು ಸಾಸ್ಯತ್ ಜೀಲ್ ಜರ್ ಜೋಞಾನೋ ದೀನೋ. ದೋಲ್ ಜೋಗೇನೇ ಅತ್ರಾಲ್ರೇಮ್ ಕೀದೋ.

Transliteration

Ōr pakab bēñāpar liśyāṇ rakāḍējako haryēk ādtī lās naleju sāsyat jīl jar jēñānē dīnō. Dōl jagēnē atrālrēm kīdō.

Translation

What day-of God-by his son-on faith-sort making all not die, that-fromhim-to faithful being-ones-of living-short receive, saying, his son only-one gave; thus him-by men-land-to liked.
