Tanchangya (তঞ্চংগ্যা)

Tanchangya is a Eastern Indo-Aryan language spoken by about 22,000 people, mainly in the Chittagong Hill Tracts of southeastern Bangladesh, and also in the states of Tripura and Mizoram in the northeast of India, and in Rakhine State in southwestern Myanmar.

Tanchangya is also known as Tongchangya or Tangchangya.

Written Tanchangya

In Bangladesh it is written with the Bengali alphabet. Tanchangya also has its own writing system, known as the Ka-Pat or Tanchangya alphabet. It is an abugida or syllabic alphabet that was introduced in Myanmar in 2012 by Rupak Debnath.
